My Itchy Travel Feet | The Baby Boomer's Guide To Travel

Extreme Adventures, are you ready?

by Donna Hull on 2008/07/22

Ok, I admit it. When National Geographic Adventure Magazine arrives in my mailbox, I read every word. Now, I know that climbing Mt. Everest is not in my future, but a baby boomer can dream. Right?

Well, if you’re seeking the ultimate adventure, Abercrombie & Kent has the perfect selection of tours for you. Expeditions range from level 1, a safari, South Africa, the Singita, to the most difficult, level 4, Norway, on the Trail of the Polar Bear.

I can probably manage a level 2 trip, Jordan, Following the steps of Lawrence of Arabia. An all day camel ride followed by a night in a Bedouin tent, then jeeping across the desert? I can do that. Now, Alan, he has the need for speed. This level 3 trip to South Africa, Seeking the Ultimate Thrill, which includes a ride in a Grand Prix race car plus a flight in the supersonic Hunter Hawker fighter jet, should satisfy his speed genes for a long time to come.

Clients need to be healthy and fit for most of these pricey adventures. So, save your money and get down to the gym. Hey, we’re still young enough for a little thrill seeking.

Do you have a dream adventure on your baby boomer travel list? Post a comment. Tell me all about it.
