Attend a Baroque music festival on a Peter Deilmann Cruise

by Donna Hull on 2008/09/03

Are you a classical music lover? Peter Deilmann Cruises celebrates  the 250-year legacy of Georg Friederich Handel (composer of The Messiah) on a 13-day sail beginning May 21, 2009. The cruise starts in London, then continues to Scotland, Ireland, Germany and Belgium. While aboard the ocean-going MS Deustchland, passengers will attend a series of musical performances, both onshore and at sea, by classical musicians and vocalists. The line offers a $99 package that includes economy air from 73 North American gateway cities plus a selection of excursions.

I’ve never sailed on a Peter Deilmann ship, but with 513 passengers, the MS Deustchland is worth considering. You might be more familiar with Dielmann’s riverboat line which has sailed the rivers of Europe for over 25 years. My friend, Denise, loved her riverboat experience with Deilmann.

For my luxury cruise friends, the ship is not all-inclusive, there is only one seating for dinner and the entry-level cabins look small. But, with Deilmann’s claims of a 4 to 5-star niche cruise experience, their themed cruises look particularly interesting. Baby boomers looking for a combination of cruise plus adventure should check out one of the hiking, cycling or equestrian journeys.

I’m always ready to broaden my horizons. A Peter Deilmann Cruise might do just that. Baby boomers, have you cruised on a Peter Deilmann Cruise? Post a comment. Educate me.
