Saturday's scene: Nature paints a pretty picture

by Donna Hull on 2009/01/10

Iron Mountain, Colorado

I photographed nature’s artistry while on a four-wheel-drive adventure in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado.

Love it. Are those shadows in the photo shadows of the clouds in the sky?

Thanks for the comments, Dominique and Joan. Yes, those were cloud shadows. It’s an amazing sight as you drive through through the green landscape to suddenly reach a mountain striped in oranges and brown. It awes me every time I’m there.

Building on minnemom’s comment, when my grandmother saw the Painted Desert, she wanted to know who painted it? Couldn’t believe it was natural.

I’ve never been in this area of Colorado, but now I have to see it.

    Gorgeous, Donna!

A truly unbelievable photo. A new way to take photos during our next trip to Sedona.
