My Itchy Travel Feet | The Baby Boomer's Guide To Travel

Product Review: tugo Luggage Drink Holder

by Donna Hull on 2009/05/19

tugo-cup-holderBaby boomer travelers, I don’t know about you, but I am beginning to fumble. I’m especially aware of it when traveling through airports so I do everything possible to keep my hands free. My money and ID travel in a waist pouch that I tuck beneath the waistband of my pants. I don’t carry a purse. Ah, but I like my coffee after I’ve made it through security. I mean I REALLY like my coffee, especially on those early morning departures.

So, when the tugo folks asked me to try their luggage drink holder, I said, “yes.” The pliable cup holder attaches to rolling luggage with a simple strapping system that’s easy to use. tugo accommodates a coffee cup or small to medium drink cup and the contents do not spill out. Voila! Your hands are free, unless you purchased a muffin with that coffee. You can find tugo at Amazon.com for $9.95.

My experiment using tugo was successful. However, if you travel with two bags, with one bag resting on top of your rolling luggage, like I do, then the tugo cup holder is harder to use. But for those times when I’m traveling with just my rolling briefcase or carry-on, I’ll definitely be rolling through the airport with the tugo. And there WILL be a hot cup of coffee sitting in the holder.

In celebration of My Itchy Travel Feet’s one-year-anniversary, I’m giving away a tugo luggage drink holder. To enter, post a comment telling me what type of drink you’d be placing in the tugo. Please include your email for contact purposes. You might be the lucky one to win the tugo luggage drink holder. Contest ends on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 p.m. Arizona Mountain Standard Time. Winner will be announced on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Please see general contest rules.

UPDATE: May 27, 2009. This contest has expired. As soon as the winner acknowledges receipt of my email, I’ll make the announcement.

  • James Nickerson
Thanks for the nice giveaway! I've never seen a cup holder for the luggage and I traveled a bit and I'm surprised I haven't seen one. What a great idea!! I would have to have my coffee in it! To keep me alert!
  • In the summer, unsweetened ice tea. In the winter, Numi chai tea - single bag in my own cup, when possible.
  • A Peet's lowfat latte with chocolate on top. Looks like a handy thing. I REALLY like my coffee too.
  • Kim
That's a great idea! It would depend on the time of day ... it could be a cup of coffee, water or soda.
  • lisamann
coffee, of course. Or water. Looks cool, I never seem to have enough hands in the airport.
  • Definitely tea, ideally from home (thus good tea as opposed to airport tea), in a travel mug to be used on the other end as well.
  • Cute! I've never seen one of these before.

Yep, Starbucks is my drink of choice in airports.
  • david basile
    Starbucks
  • I'd put tea in it!
  • It would be a boring old bottle of water for me (and yes, I would recycle once I got to the other end!).
  • As long as it's a reusable cup, I'd put any liquid in it. I hope travelers can start carrying their own cups and saving hundreds of thousands of trees from becoming landfill!
  • Liz
probably a hot chocolate or mocha
  • NICHOLAS NIEVES
    strong good old american coffee
  • hminnesota

I'd be putting a cold Chai with no ice in that holder. Having one of those always relaxes me on a flight.

No, it doesn't leak. Here are a few more pictures.
As you can see, it stays more upright.
  • Totally putting coffee in that baby. But: doesn't it spill when to have to tip the case to wheel it???
