While on a photography workshop with Marc Adamus, Alan captured this fall scene at St Mary Lake in Glacier National Park. There’s sure to be celebrating going on at the lake in 2010 when Glacier celebrates its centennial year as a national park.

I'll tell Alan that you like it. He'll be so pleased. It's amazing what a photo workshop will do for your photography skills. It a great trip for photography enthusiasts.
Beautiful photo! We are thinking about a trip up there this summer/early fall.

Make your plans carefully to avoid the centennial crowds. I'd love to go back again, then continue into Canada for a heli-hiking trip. I've always wanted to do that.
Good point about the crowds – maybe we'll go next year. Heli-hiking is on our “list” too – we have friends who went with CMH last year and loved it.

Leslie, you'll be ok going this year if you wait until September. Of course the weather is more unreliable then. We had fantastic sunny weather on a late-September visit a couple of years ago. This photograph was taken while Alan was on a September photo workshop where it rained much of the time. You just never know.
This is an absolutely gorgeous shot. I assume it was a long exposure to get the cloudy effect with the water – stunning!

I love the ghost-like qualities across the lake, the brooding cloud and amphitheatre of mountains. Wonderful photo.

Thanks for all the complements on Alan's photo at Glacier. I think it's about time he signed up here for his own identity so that he can answer the questions that I don't know. I'll ask about the long exposure, Barbara. You're probably correct.
