Saturday’s scene: Kissed by a Horse

On a winter visit to Hidden Meadow Ranch in Greer, Arizona, I looked forward to horseback riding in the snow. When I introduced myself, one of the friendly horses decided to give me a kiss. Are you a baby boomer horse lover? Have you ever ridden in the snow. Post a comment to share your experience.

Barbara, it was a magical moment. I’m not a horse person, but I’ve
always wanted to go horseback riding in the snow. There was a ton of
snow on our visit to Hidden Meadow Ranch plus friendly horses. I was
in heaven.

Nancy, I hope one of these days that you have the opportunity to go
horseback riding in the snow at Hidden Meadow Ranch. It’s the best!

Jane, I love the name of your horse. I’m a city girl who likes horses
combined with a helping of “I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Lovely photo, Donna! Horseback riding is a beautiful green way to experience a place!

Thanks. I agree that horseback riding is more friendly to the
environment. Although, I’ll admit, I do have a yen for a snowmobile
trip in Yellowstone, even though it’s not a green activity.

That is such a cute picture. Since I avoid cold weather and am not all that happy astride a horse, I’ll leave that adventure to you, though. But I agree that Hidden Meadow is a gorgeous place. You’ll find me beside the cabin’s fireplace, sipping hot chocolate.

Vera, did you have any of the hot chocolate in the main lodge?
Outstanding! The elk steak dinner was delicious, too.

The California coast line is hard to beat. The entire drive you took is spectacular and should not be missed by anyone. Spend a few days in the San Luis Obispo area before taking off. There are some wonderful wines in SLO and Paso Robles!

Thanks, Debbie. San Luis Obispo is one area that we didn’t visit.
You’re right about the good wines. We sampled a few in Paso Robles, a
great town for boomers to visit.

I can barely ride but love giving it a try on our travels.
