Boomer photographers traveling in the Kootenay Rockies will want to schedule a photo stop at the Slocan Overlook. That’s where Alan took this photograph during a boomer sports car road trip on The Selkirk Loop in British Columbia, Canada. The view of Slocan Lake weaving through the snow-capped mountains reminded us of our cruise through the Norwegian Fjords.
Although parking is limited, there’s a short path for stretching your legs — and gazing at the fantastic Kooetany Rockies view — especially after being all cramped up in a tiny sports car. In fact, scenic overlooks make a great place to practice those boomer fitness tips that Nora Lynch mentioned in her guest post a couple of weeks ago. Right?
Do you have a favorite scenic overlook in the Kootenay Rockies? Post a comment to share with us. Next time you pass by Slocan Overlook, I’ll be the one doing jumping jacks.
New here? We hope you’ll come again. To keep up with us, subscribe to our posts, sign up for our monthly newsletter or keep up with baby boomer travel news and deals at the My Itchy Travel Feet page on Facebook.

You hit the nail on the head: I was thinking it totally looks like Geirangerfjorden in Norway!

I agree with Camels and Chocolate – it does have a Norwegian feel to it – the water looks so foreboding.

Hmm, foreboding? It seemed peaceful to me. But I bet the water is very cold.
Beautiful. I’ve never been remotely close to there but I would certainly like to go.

It’s not all that far from Oregon, Jennifer. The Kootenay Rockies would make a great family road trip.
Stunning, serene, breathtaking, awesome. I could watch that view for hours.

It is a calming view.
Wow! That’s a pretty place. I wish we had more lakes like that in our part of the Rockies.

Beautiful. This reminds me of the Colorado Rockies.

There are a lot of similarities. Both the Kootenays and the Colorado Rockies are from the same mountain chain.
