Revitalizing Those Boomer Travel Feet

Does air travel cause your feet to swell? On my boomer travels, I occasionally experience puffy ankles at the end of an international flight. And of course all air travelers should be concerned about deep vein thrombosis — a blood clot condition that can result from many hours of inactivity — especially on long  plane flights. Wearing FUTURO Revitalizing Trouser Socks may help boomers avoid both puffy ankles and deep vein thrombosis.

On my recent trip to Cairo, I wore FUTURO trouser socks with moderate 15-20 mm/Hg compression on the long flight from JFK to Cairo. I confess. I’m one of those boomer travelers who settles into her seat and doesn’t move around much. Yes, I know that’s not what I should be doing. The graduated compression action of the FUTURO socks — they are tightest at the ankle, gradually decreasing up the leg — seemed to help. I arrived in Cairo without puffy ankles plus my legs felt energized.

With a black diamond pattern, the trouser socks don’t look at all like compression stockings. Because I was traveling on a hot day, I chose to wait until I was on the Egypt Air plane before I put them on. Due to their tight fit, that was a bit of a challenge but I managed — thank goodness I had the extra leg room of an emergency row seat. Knowing what I do now, I recommend that you put on FUTURO trouser socks before leaving on your flight, especially if you are sitting in coach.

FUTURO Revitalizing trouser socks come in several degrees of compression — mild, moderate and firm. And sizes range from small, medium to large. FUTURO also makes energizing ultra sheer pantyhose for women, which I’ll be taking on the holiday SilverSea cruise that Alan and I have planned for December.
