Traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday can be a hassle. Whether you’re on the road or in the air, it’s one of the busiest travel weeks of the year. A smartphone definitely eases the stress, especially if you’re on one of the new no-contract 90-day Smartphone Only plans from TracFone.

Starting as low as $35, the 90-day Smartphone Only plans offer a variety of options for minutes, texts and data. Need more details? Check out the chart below for the version that works best for you:

Now, let’s talk about how combining the Smartphone Only plan with my tips will lead to stress-free Thanksgiving holiday travel.

Will your Thanksgiving travel be snowy? Use my tips to ease the travel pain.
Will your Thanksgiving travel be snowy?

While I can’t promise you beautiful Thanksgiving weather, I can show you how to plan for it. When Alan and I are on the road at Thanksgiving, weather apps like WeatherBug or Accuweather are a must for staying up-to-date on local weather conditions. The NOAA free app offers the latest in storm watching from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. And Alan swears by radar apps like MyRadar—with one glance, he can see bad weather that’s headed our way.

We also appreciate learning about traffic that might affect our route so that our itinerary can be altered, if possible. That’s where Google Maps comes in. Simply click on Traffic from the drop down menu to learn about traffic delays in the area.

If you’re flying, then traveling with a charged-up smartphone is a must. You’ll want to download the airline’s app before arriving at the airport. If a flight change is necessary due to cancellations or delays, use the app to rebook flights. It’s much quicker than standing in line to talk with a gate agent. And always travel with alternate routes in mind, just in case. After searching from your smartphone, save the results in a notes app for easy access.

And, just for fun, download the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade app for pictures, videos and behind-the-scenes stories. It’s a great way to entertain the grandkids. You’ll find it in the Google Play store.

Now that I’ve shown you how helpful a smartphone can be for Thanksgiving holiday travel, let’s talk about how easy it is to bring your current phone over to TracFone.

With Bring Your Own Phone,* you’ll experience the ease of no-contract service from TracFone plus the benefits of the Smartphone Only plans. And you’ll keep your same number. I appreciate that the Unlimited Carryover feature means that unused minutes, text and data never expire as long as service remains active and in use during a six-month period.

*Disclaimer: Bring Your Own Phone requires a compatible or unlocked smartphone. Most GSM and CDMA smartphones are compatible.

Will your Thanksgiving travel plans include TracFone? Combine my tips with TracFone’s no contracts and low fee plans for a stress-free trip.
