News for the Week

Go ATV riding to Mussigbrod Lake on a visit to Montana's Big Hole Valley.

On Sunday, we drove to Montana’s Big Hole Valley for an ATV ride to Mussigbrod Lake. Isn’t this a gorgeous spot?

From Donna:

Alan and I stuck to our Montana adventure plans that I mentioned last week. As you can see from the photo of Mussigbrod Lake, we had a very scenic ATV ride in the Big Hole Valley.

The Blodgett Canyon Overlook trail rewards hikers with this view. It's a fun, short hike near Hamilton, Montana.

Blodgett Canyon Overlook

And we finally accomplished another hike of the week with this July 4th early morning hike to Blodgett Canyon Overlook in the Bitterroot Valley near Hamilton.

But now the temperatures are closing in on triple digits. Are we tough enough to continue the adventure? Stay tuned.

Always Hungry update: Week 2 of Phase 1 is done. This week resulted in another a slight weight loss and decrease in inches. Overall, I’ve lost 2 lbs since June 1 and almost an inch in my waist (I officially started Always Hungry on June 14). And those too-tight tops that I’m trying on each week? Yes, they are fitting better. According to the book, I could start into Phase 2: 40% fat, 35% carbs and 25% protein. But I will probably ease into it. Phase 1 is intended to trick fat cells into releasing fat for burning energy. I’m not sure that mine totally have the message yet.

And Forbes reports on just how sugar promotes fat storage but good fat keeps us full and eating less. Thanks for letting me stay accountable by reporting my progress here. If you have questions, send me an email.

From Nicole:

Well, hello everyone! I’m just back from a two week vacation while my family was in town. They’ve already seen a lot of Madrid and the surrounding pueblos, so we headed up north this time. After catching a quick flight to Santander, we drove to beautiful Suances. This is a gorgeous area of Spain and one that is fairly off-the-beaten path. We rented an apartment that looked over the beach, which was surrounded by green-covered cliffs. It’s a stunning area and one that proves just how diverse Spain’s landscape really is!

Suances, spain, makes an off-the-beaten-path travel experience in Spain's Cantabria region.

If you love beautiful coastlines, Spain’s Cantabria region really can’t be beat!
