Are you Culturious?

Baby boomers, are you looking for a small group tour experience to satisfy you’re culturiousity? No, I didn’t misspell a word, travel tour company, Tauck, has invented a new one, Culturious. It’s also the name of the company’s new small-group travel program focusing on active, fun experiences that include hands-on learning and immersion in local cultures.

The brochure I’m reading promises 20 travelers to a group, local trip guides and experts, engaging activities plus accommodations at small luxury hotels. What’s included? All gratuities, daily activities, luggage handling, airport transfers, on-tour airfare and transportation and some meals. In fact, my only disappointment is that not enough meals, especially dinners, are included in this pricey experience.

But I did find three offerings, with most meals included, that pique my interest. The 8 day/7 night Costa Rica adventure offers moonlight hikes, Spanish speaking classes, horseback riding, white-water paddling and salsa dancing. Besides an exploration of Machu Picchu, the Peru-Amazon 12 day/11 night trip promises Peruvian cooking classes, an Amazon cruise, private hacienda dinner in Lima, trail rides, and treks to a rural village. I also like the 7 day/6 night Manitoba visit to see the polar bears with time leftover for birdwatching, hiking and a stay at a remote spa.

Canadian Rockies Tauck tour

Canadian Rockies Tauck tour

Alan and I traveled the Canadian Rockies with Tauck on one of their regular bus tours at the end of our 3-week road trip through national parks in the western U.S. We dropped our car off in Calgary, hopped on the bus and let Tauck do the driving for a week. We experienced first-rate accommodations, pleasant traveling companions, a roomy and comfortable bus, ample dining choices (no eating as a group) and an introduction to the beauty of the Canadian Rockies.

Tauck’s Culturious tours are definitely on our baby boomer travel radar. What about you? If you take one this year, please leave a comment to tell me about your Culturious experience.
