A book scarecrow at the Stevensville Scarecrow Festival

The North Valley Public Library’s book scarecrow at the Stevensville Scarecrow Festival.

From Donna:

It poured rain last Friday for the beginning of the Stevensville Scarecrow Festival. But Alan and I took advantage of Saturday evening’s clear weather to check out all the scarecrows. The folks in Stevensville, Montana, are really creative. What festivals are happening in your neighborhood? I encourage you to check them out. Being a tourist in your own backyard is lots of fun.

And while I’m reminding you to enjoy local events, do you ever take classes at your adult education center? Alan and I are starting Tai Chi classes on Monday. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Segovian processions

Traditional dance procession through the village.

From Nicole:

Fall weather has finally arrived here in Madrid. Although the weather is basically travel-friendly year-round, autumn is a great time to visit the city, and especially the surrounding areas like Segovia or Chinchon. If you’re lucky, you might run into a local festival, which are quite common in September and October. We recently went to my mother-in-law’s Segovian village for its yearly party. It’s really a fun time. On top of the traditional processions, there are events for children, concerts, food and drink, and my personal favorite, 3 a.m. bingo!
