blooming almond trees

Located outside the city center, El Quinto de Molinos Park is stunning this time of year. I’m not sure of the exact count, but there must be thousands of blooming almond trees. It’s really something special.

From Donna:

I know y’all are tired of reading about our snow escapades. But, dang, it snowed 2′ last weekend in the Bitterroot Valley:

Can you guess which major living-in-a-snowy-climate faux pax we made? Yes, the one about forgetting to ask our landscaper to add us to his snow removal list. Thankfully, he appreciates our business and sent someone out to clear a portion of the driveway. It’s no fun tromping through 2′ of snow with bags of groceries because you can’ t drive the car down the driveway. Thank you Marcus Thomas!

From Nicole:

Well, looks like we made it to February! I can’t help to smile to myself as Donna tells me about how much snow they’re getting in Montana still. I hate to brag, but here in Madrid, it’s running around 70 degrees, and sunny, of course. Always sunny.

I’m so excited because my adopted city is so incredibly beautiful this time of year. (Here’s a post I did a few years ago about Madrid parks to visit in Spring.)  In fact, this month, we’re going to be discussing the best cities in Europe to visit in springtime. Hopefully, we’ll get your travel feet itching for a European adventure!

Updated this week:

Two bison in the snow on a winter visit to Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park.

Did you know that Yellowstone National Park closes most of the roads in March to start plowing snow in preparation for its spring opening? But you can still visit the Lamar Valley. Highway 212 travels through that portion of Yellowstone National Park. It remains open to service the residents of Cooke City, Montana. Donna’s updated her tips on Visiting Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley in the Winter. And, yes, March still qualifies for winter in Wyoming and Montana.
