News for the Week

icy glacier with mountains and water

Not all hiking is green rolling hills and wild flowers. Read all about the time Alan and Donna hiked the icy 14th July Glacier in Svalbard, Norway on a Silversea expedition excursion.

From Donna:

It’s the season of smoke, wildfire smoke that is. If you have planned a summer trip to Yosemite National Park, it’s currently closed due to an approaching wildfire (find the latest information here). Authorities hope to open back up next week after fire lines have been established. But my guess is that, if the park is able to open back up, the smoke will be bad.

How do you know if there’s a wildfire in your vacation path? Inciweb is a great place to research wildfires in the U.S. Or download the Wildfire Info app to your phone. And with that, I’ll return to my summer vacation from blogging. See you next week!

Bullhead Lake shimmers on a sunny day in Glacier National Park.

As we close out our hiking theme, I’m sharing my favorite hike in Glacier National Park: Hiking to Bullhead Lake.

From Nicole:

Hello, everyone! I’m back this week after spending some down town at the beach. I’d love to describe all of the wild adventures I had discovering the many off-the-beaten-paths of Majorca. But, I can’t. Nope.

This year, we took things easy. We rode our bikes to breakfast in the morning, hit the beach, ate long lunches followed by longer naps, and hit the beach again for an evening stroll before heading to dinner. The most excited thing that happened was when my waiter treated me to a second glass of crisp, cold cava.

So, although I don’t have much to share with you about our time away, I will say that sometimes, a non-adventurous, disconnecting trip is really the best, don’t you agree?
