Don’t let back pain put your boomer travel on hold

2012/06/11by Donna Hull

Can you guess which prize I want to win in the Rally for Relief with ThermaCare contest?

You’re on a boomer trip—one you’ve been anticipating for a long time—and a nagging lower backache is your morning wakeup call rather than the hotel’s radio alarm clock. There go the plans for the day—no hiking, biking or golfing for you. Hopefully, this is a vacation that provides rest and relaxation rather than a road trip where grin and bear it is the motto of the day.

Alan and I are very familiar with this scenario (And, I bet we’re not the only boomers reading this post who’ve suffered lower back pain). On our next trip, we’re tucking ThermaCare HeatWraps in our carry-on. Each heatwrap offers 16 hours of relief, helping us to get back to doing what we enjoy most—active boomer travel.

Rally for Relief, defeat pack pain and win $16,000

Click the like button at the ThermaCare page on Facebook  to enter the Rally for Relief contest. Besides the $16,000 Grand Prize, which will be awarded in October, ThermaCare is giving away five trips. Active boomers are going to love this selection: scuba diving in Cancun, Mexico; hiking in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; tennis in Phoenix, Arizona; bicycling in Sonoma/Napa Valley, California; skiing in Park City, Utah; and golf in Palm Beach, Florida.

Extra chances to win on Rally Day, the 16th of each month

More chances to win: from June until October, 2012, visit the Rally for Relief app on Facebook on the 16th of each month (Rally Day) for an extra entry into the $16,000 Grand Prize drawing. You’ll also be entered in the monthly contest to win more cool prizes.

Win a gift pack of ThermaCare HeatWraps now

Curious to find out if ThermaCare HeatWraps will offer pain relief for your boomer backache? My Itchy Travel Feet is giving away a gift pack of 16 samples of ThermaCare for Lower Back and Hip. To enter, just post a comment at the end of this post telling us where you’ll be taking the ThermaCare HeatWraps this summer. Please include your email address for contact purposes. Contest ends on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time. Winner will be announced as soon as possible. According to our general contest rules, the winner must be a U.S. resident and respond within 48 hours of receiving the notification email; or we chose another winner.

Remember the Road Scholar hiking tour in Glacier National Park that Alan and I will be experiencing in September? I’ve started a training program that includes a walk/run down our hilly, dirt road and back (3 miles-round-trip). How am I doing? Let’s jus say that I can’t wait to strap on my sample of ThermaCare HeatWrap for Lower Back and Hip. It arrived today so stay tuned for my July report. I’ll be telling you more about the Rally for Relief in monthly blog posts, with ThermaCare product giveaways, from June until October, 2012.

Disclosure: I am participating in a sponsored campaign hosted by ThermaCare. I received compensation for this post. While all opinions stated are my own, I make no claims about ThermaCare as a product or its effectiveness.

UPDATE: June 18, 2012, 12:00 p.m: this contest has expired. As soon as the winner acknowledges receipt of my email, I’ll make the announcement.

What a great prize for summer travel. I think I’d use it to have with me when driving in the car. I’m planning lots of nearby vacations this summer.

Sounds like an opportunity to take them somewhere cold? Alaska? Canada?

I’ve had many needs for a product like this. What comes most recently to mind is my last trip hiking in Utah. Next up: my upcoming hiking trip to Maine this summer.

I’ll be taking them camping and hiking! 5 miles on hilly terrain pushing a loaded stroller = sore back!

Michelle Tucker June 17, 2012 at 6:19 pm

I’d be taking them with me on a long cross country trip to Colorado. The drive is about 24 hours and the back starts getting sore after about 2 hours of riding. Thanks!

To my son’s who is getting married next month. Right now we are fixing up the house he bought-what a wreck, but what can you do? But I did hurt my back getting the vac out of the closet yesterday.
On a positive note it got me out of vacuuming. LOL
No place to go, money really tight.

Pinnacle mountain is where I’ll need these.
