“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” may be the tagline for a popular Las Vegas advertising campaign but it won’t be true during my visit this week (June 8 – 13, 2013). That’s because I’m in Vegas to report on IPW (International Pow Wow), the U.S. Travel Association’s international show attracting 1,000 U.S. travel organizations and 1,200 international and domestic buyers. I’ll be among the 500 journalists reporting on the latest travel news from destinations and travel providers. And of course, I’ll be looking for those stories that are especially appealing to boomers.
Booths manned by representatives from the Southeast to the Northwest and everywhere in between will line the marketplace floor. Florida, California, Vermont, Idaho—the list of destinations goes on and on. And I’m looking forward to paying a special visit to the Montana delegation to learn about those special off-the-beaten-path places in my new home state.
I’ll be scoping out the newest offerings from Un-Cruise Adventures (formerly American Safari), Tauck World Discovery, Amtrak, Mariott Hotels, Pullman Sleeping Car Company and many more. But the day doesn’t end when the show floor closes, you should see the entertainment lineup at the IPW evening events.
Did you know that this is my first visit to Las Vegas? I can’t wait to experience a city that bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World. Cirque Du Soleil, Celine Dion, Jersey Boys, here I come.
To follow my twitter reports (follow me @DonnaLHull)—and those of my fellow journalists— look for the hashtag #ipw13. I’ll also be posting photos and status updates on the My Itchy Travel Feet page on Facebook.
I’m attending IPW to provide you with the latest information on U.S. Travel so post any questions you may have in the comments section. I’ll do my best to find the answer for you.
