pam-lanier-bed-breakfast-guideWarning, baby boomer travel foodies! Don’t read this post if you’re hungry. It will send you straight to the kitchen for something to eat. Ah, but will boomers find one of the delectable dishes described in Bed and Breakfast Guide for Food Lovers by Pam Lanier?

An expert on bed and breakfast travel, Pam has gathered 133 recipes from her favorite innkeepers. Representing all 50 states, selections include 50 breakfast and brunch recipes, 23 appetizers, 23 entrées, and 37 desserts. Need a quick breakfast idea? Try one of the recipes featuring Jiffy mix. What baby boomer doesn’t remember mom reaching for that little box to whip up cornbread or a quick dessert? My mother used it as an easy pie crust poured over a can of fruit. Voila! We had apple cobbler.

Besides the fun of discovering new breakfast and brunch recipes, boomers will be introduced to bed and breakfasts from around the U.S. I discovered several to add to my travel list. Sampling the Banana Nut Cakes With Toffee Nut Sauce at the Addison on Amelia would be a yummy way to start a boomer day on the beaches of Amelia Island. Cindy and Ted’s Salsaah! from the Dobson House in El Prado, New Mexico would fire up the beginning of a day exploring the Taos area . And the Creme Caramel Over-Night French Toast from Nappa’s Beazley House reminds me of the Crème Brulee Italian Toast recipe that I published from Baer House Inn.

My only complaint about the Bed and Breakfast Guide for Food Lovers is that the photos of the inns and their dishes are too small. Color photos would have been nice, too. However, I do appreciate that the recipe pages include a website address (if applicable) and contact information for each bed and breakfast.

Disclosure: Lanier Publishing provided a copy of Bed and Breakfast Guide for Food Lovers for my review. They are also providing a copy of the book to the winner of our contest.
