Dine at 82 Queen for a taste of South Carolina's Low-country

by Donna Hull on 2008/06/04

Baby boomers looking for a fine meal in Charleston, SC, have plenty of choices. The Holy City is full of excellent restaurants. To sample Low-country cuisine in a lush garden setting, visit 82 Queen.

Located in the French Quarter of Charleston, the award winning restaurant sits on property that can be traced to 1682. Diners choose from 11 dining rooms or a charming courtyard where white wrought iron tables are shaded by large trees and surrounded by blooming flowers.

On a recent visit, I introduced Alan to one of my favorites – she crab soup laced with sherry. After sharing a bowl of the creamy seafood concoction, we both enjoyed  a main course of fish served over grits. Alan devoured the Blackened Talapia with Pimento Cheese while I sampled Pesto Crusted Mahi-mahi with Fried Green Tomatos. We lingered underneath the shady trees before walking off the meal on Charleston’s historic streets.
