Welcome to our new home. For the last six months, My Itchy Travel Feet has been undergoing a complete site makeover. Alan and I are thrilled to finally show you.
Have you ever built a house? Not everything is perfect when you first move in. So it is with our new design. There’s still a bit of prettyfying and last minute fixes to do, but it’s time Alan and I showed you around. So, we’re inviting readers to our progressive site design party. Instead of a progressive dinner where guests move from house to house for each course of the meal—appetizer, salad, main coure and dessert—we’re holding a progressive site design party that introduces you to our site makeover one course at a time. Are you ready for the appetizer?
We think a site’s Home Page is like the appetizer before dinner. From the elements on the page, readers get a taste of what’s to come. And the new My Itchy Travel Feet Home Page certainly whets your appetizer.
The first thing you’ll probably notice is the slider featuring some of Alan’s great photography. This is also where you’ll find our latest content.
Would you rather read our articles as they’re published? Just click the “Let’sGo” button to access the article archive. Directly underneath are three images, which will be changing from time to time. Currently they link to AZ Voices, our book and the newsletter.
Do you see the “More Travel Ideas” section? The articles reflect a theme and will be changed out every 2 to 4 weeks. Since this is a fun time of the year to visit the Southwest, we’re featuring four of our favorite active travel adventures. Clicking on “Read More Featured Content,” will take you to other favorite articles.
The navigation menu at the top of the site is now geared strictly for our readers. Here, you’ll find information about us, more travel ideas on the Themed Trips and Destinations tabs, advice in the Boomer Travel Resources section, a tab for subscribing to the newsletter, information on how to contact us and a search bar conveniently located at the top of the site (where all search bars should be, in my opinion).
I’ll be explaining more about the navigation menu and footer when I serve up our next course—salad. I know what you’re thinking. How is Donna going to equate those elements of a website with salad? Stay tuned. You’ll soon find out.
So, what do you think of our site makeover, especially the Home Page? Do you have any questions or suggestions? Is there something that you can’t find? Post a comment to let us know. And, welcome to our new home.
