Happy fifteen years to My Itchy Travel Feet! That’s right, I’m celebrating 15 years of publishing stories to inspire baby boomer travel. Actually, it’s 17 years as My Itchy Travel Feet started out as a personal blog.

Whew! That’s a lot of traveling, travel planning, writing, photography and all the other tasks that go into publishing an award-winning online magazine for boomer travelers. Of course I couldn’t have done it without travel planner and photographer extraordinaire, Alan.

Online Magazine. Did you see get that part? Rather than a blog featuring our personal travels, My Itchy Travel Feet has morphed into an online magazine publishing articles from a variety of boomer travel writers (including us). One person can’t possibly travel everywhere that our readers want to go.

Currently, My Itchy Travel Feet operates with a featured contributor, Debi Lander, to augment the rest of the staff: editor/writer (me) and photographer (Alan). Read more about us

I continue to publish the weekly broadcast that’s sent out each Sunday (actually, it has become a favorite editing task), plus targeted newsletters for roadtrippers and national park travel with cruise, USA travel, and International travel editions coming soon.

Fifteen years of travel: where do you like to go?

As I usually do each year while celebrating this anniversary date, I check out My Itchy Travel Feet statistics to see which destinations and travel experiences have been the most popular with our boomer readers.

The research also shows me which topics you’d like to read more about. To date, we’ve published 1,063 articles that have attracted 4,724,899 page views. Double whoa!

Of course I’m always updating older articles for current information as well as publishing new destination articles that I think you should know about. When you arrive at an article on My Itchy Travel Feet, I want you to find updated information that’s correct, helpful for planning your next boomer adventure, and entertaining.

Where do you like to go? Take a look at the most popular articles from the last fifteen years.

You guys really like Monument Valley. I mean you REALLY like this beautiful destination that borders Arizona and Utah. My advice for taking the scenic drive in Monument Valley is the most popular article at My Itchy Travel Feet by a long shot. And I constantly monitor it— correcting information, fixing invalid links, and updating resources to make your visit to this iconic destination in the American Southwest the best boomer adventure ever.

#3 Luxury Cruise Wear for Women

Many of my boomer women readers ask me what to wear on a cruise. Since I consider packing for a cruise to be a fun challenge, I’ve shared my tips and strategies in Luxury Cruise Wear for Women. The advice focuses on learning your style, looking great, how to mix and match, and doing it without overloading your luggage.

#4 Driving through history on a Natchez Trace Road Trip

#4 Natchez Trace Road Trip

Alan and I have driven portions of the Natchez Trace, but Debi Lander has written about her trip driving the entire Trace. Her insight for what to see and do, where to stay, and the wonderful Southern delicacies you’ll sample while on a Natchez Trace road trip are invaluable.

#5 How to visit Polebridge, Montana: Going off-the-beaten-path in Glacier National Park

Combine a trip to Glacier National Park with an off-the-beaten-path experience and you have the perfect boomer travel experience, in my opinion. How to visit Polebridge, Montana comes in at #5 in the all-time most popular articles here at My Itchy Travel Feet. The drive to Polebridge is much more than sampling the famous huckleberry bear claws at Polebridge Mercantile. I show you why this remote corner of Montana is well worth exploring.

Most popular article from our 15th year online

Have you driven the High Road to Taos?

And which article from year fifteen is the most popular? My article, Take the High Road to Taos, tops the list. And a bunch of y’all must be visiting Crater Lake as my story about our trip comes in a close second.

And what about international travel stories? Debi Lander takes the prize with Best Things to Do in Curacao for Boomer Travelers.

Celebrating a 15 year anniversary: What’s next for My Itchy Travel Feet?

What’s in store for year #16? I have some fun travel articles lined up for you. I’ll be posting Debi Lander’s article soon about her visit to Normandy. And I can’t wait to read about her experience with Monarch butterflies in Mexico.

Alan and I will be cruising in Japan next spring. I’m looking forward to writing about our experience. And, as always, we’re planning plenty of U.S. travel. I’m currently working on articles about Leslie Gulch in eastern Oregon, a shore excursion in Juneau, Alaska; and Oregon’s Cape Perpetua Natural Area.

As always, I’ll be publishing a balance of domestic and international travel plus plenty of travel tips.
