Art in the South Pacific

New Caledonia graffiti competes with art in a scene painted on the side of a theater building in Noumea. We discovered this artistic endeavor while on a cruise excursion with Seabourn Odyssey. Images and graffiti were not the only items painted on the building. An SOS in huge red letters decorated the top in an attempt to attract the attention of would-be donors. The theater, on a hill overlooking the harbor in Noumea, was damaged over a year ago during a typhoon and has not reopened.
