I usually don’t post about travels that I haven’t experienced myself. But baby boomer travelers, this sounds like so much fun that I knew you’d want to know about it.

Are you a hot air balloon enthusiast? Do you think the Lake Powell area is beautiful? Here’s a chance to combine both interests during Arizona’s cooler fall season. On November 5 – 8, 2009, Page and Lake Powell  are hosting the Page-Lake Powell Hot Air Balloon Regatta. Each morning hot air balloons will float over the lake in a colorful display. On Saturday, enjoy a Street Fair and Balloon Glow.

Lake Powell Resort is offering a Hot Air Balloon Regatta Package for $360 (a 24% savings). The special includes 2 nights lodging in a Lakeview room plus $100 resort credit.

Photographers, here’s your chance to snap great shots of the Lake Powell landscape decorated with a rainbow of hot air balloons. And, while you’re in the area, take the time to explore Lower and Upper Antelope Canyons, a fun adventure for baby boomer explorers and photographers alike.

Have you attended the Page-Lake Powell Hot Air Balloon Regatta? Post a comment to share your experience. Alan and I will be putting this on our “to experience” list.

I went to Lake Powell once. I found it unearthly. I don't know if it's because of the strange desert light or the fact it is manmade but my friend and I had a picnic and then fled. The balloons are pretty, though.

I would love to get up in a hot air balloon – my parents took a flight in Cappadocia and raved about it. For me it would have to be somewhere hot over an interesting landscape – there are many balloons that go up at the Bristol Balloon festival, but the weather is not always so kind

Not me! Not going in a balloon!

We've had two small planes crash this past few months.

But I love the photos!

Hot Air Ballooning looks like one of the best adventures on earth. I've never actually done it, but I definitely have it on my to do list. Lake Powell looks like a fantasy world!
