When I’m not traveling or writing about travel, I’m talking about it. And, one of my favorite topics is cruising.
Where do I go to share my cruise ideas with like-minded baby boomers? The Internet, where there’s a cruise forum for every type of cruise traveler. Here is a small sampling of what’s out there on the web:
- Luxury Cruise Talk. If you want to discuss mid to small ship luxury cruising, this is the place. Owner Ngaire Keene has one rule, Be Nice!
- Cruise Critic. This site covers almost every type of cruise travel although discussions can sometimes be contentious. The section on ports of call is especially good.
- Cruisemates. Another all-encompassing site with a comprehensive practical advice section.
- Disney Cruise Line Forum. If you’re cruising with grandchildren, this is the place to talk about child-like fun.
- Cruise Reviews. Another forum that covers all the bases.
- Cruise Clues. This site not only has a discussion board, but it has references to practically every cruise discussion group on the web.
And, some tips for a successful cruise talk experience:
- Introduce yourself. Once you find the site that meets your cruising needs, join in the conversation.
- Ask questions. You’ll be amazed at the expert advice residing on cruise forums.
- Read wisely. When the talk turns to gossip, don’t believe everything you read. If the discussion raises concerns about your cruise, or cruise line, go to the source for information. Call your travel professional to clear up any questions.
- Meet and greet. When you find yourself on a cruise with other forum members, plan a short meeting. If you hit it off, you’ll have friends for the rest of the cruise or maybe longer.
If you want to talk about cruising, there’s a group waiting to talk with you. Join the conversation. You’ll have a blast.
So, baby boomer cruiser, post a comment to tell me about your favorite cruise board. Let’s talk cruising.
